Background

Haru Koyama was a regular high school girl. Her days were spent practicing dances for school events, cheering on her boyfriend's soccer matches, and hanging out at Starbucks with her friends. She was cheerful and sociable and well-liked by her peers. Even though she had darkness in her past, darkness she'd never told anyone about, she was able to put the past behind her and have fun.

Until it all came crashing down.

While shopping for the school festival, Haru and her classmate, Chiba, were hit by a truck and killed instantly. They proceeded to wake up in a whole new world: a world with magic and monsters, like something out of an RPG. That was all well and good for Chiba, who'd been granted special powers and could make a living for himself as an adventurer. But Haru had been granted nothing, and as a woman, her options in the new world were limited. The new world was even more misogynistic than her old one! So for lack of other options, Haru took a job at a brothel.

Though Haru wasn't happy about her circumstances, she took to the job with gusto nonetheless, focusing her efforts on climbing the ranks and increasing her pay rate. Armed with a smile and a can-do attitude, Haru is prepared to milk her customers' wallets for all they're worth. Even when she thinks one of her customers is stupid or cruel, she won't let it show on her face. Her customer service approach is unbeatable.

Above all else, Haru values her independence. When Chiba offers her a job as his personal maid, she shoots him down immediately; she'd rather work at a brothel and keep her freedom than be chained to one particular guy. Haru also won't be swayed by other people's feelings: when a customer falls in love with her and tries trying to protect her, she mostly just feels sorry for him.

Inside and outside the brothel, Haru strives to have fun whenever and wherever she can, whether that means joining a sports tournament or going all-out for the brothel's song and dance numbers. She's quick to befriend other sex workers, and is willing to do almost anything for a close friend — including sacrificing herself, or taking revenge on their behalf.

And as far as sex and romance go? Haru doesn't sleep around outside of work. But if a man fits her type, it's possible she'll fall in love.

Warnings

Haru's canon contains sexual assault, violence against women, underage prostitution and misogynistic language. Haru has done sex work while underage: she's 17 at the start of canon, but even before working in a brothel, she did "compensated dating" in middle school. It is possible that her tags will contain references to working as a prostitute while underage, or experiencing violence at her job (such as choking and hitting). I do not intend to reference the middle school thing, though, and Haru would never bring it up herself.

I realize that this character might (understandably) make people uncomfortable. As a result, I plan to be selective about tagging out with Haru. I do not want to spring any difficult or triggering subject matter on people who aren't comfortable with such topics, so if you want to opt out of playing with Haru, just say the word and I promise I'll never tag you.
